The 2018 InnoBooster application and the incorrect PhD designation

A 2018 InnoBooster draft contains the following statement in the section concerning the project team:

SJH is a PhD in online learning from Aalborg University

That statement was incorrect.

The question addressed here is not whether the sentence exists. It does.

The question is whether the primary-source record supports attributing that sentence to me as a personal representation.

The internal correspondence begins before the application was written.

In March 2018, I wrote to Ulla Bisgaard that Kim L. Jørgensen wanted to spend approximately 40 percent of his time on applications, particularly EU and InnoBooster applications:

which he already has experience with

and concluded that Kim and Ulla could:

handle the task together.

On 4 April, Ulla Bisgaard described her own work on the application:

I am working in this sprint mainly on development of the Innobooster application; both in the form of research, writing background documents and drafting text for the actual application.

She also stated that she had prepared material concerning:

budget and team composition

The reference to team composition is relevant because the incorrect PhD designation appears in the later team section. It does not by itself establish who wrote the specific sentence.

Kim Jørgensen's role

In a separate exchange I asked:

Kim, will you take lead on it?

Jørgensen agreed and allocated a full working day to completing the application.

In another contemporaneous email he wrote:

I am of course sorry that what we produced was such crap, and that I did not manage to steer it in a better direction.

He then described personally making corrections, arranging multiple external readers and using their feedback to rewrite the application.

The correspondence therefore documents substantive responsibility for drafting, editing and quality control.

A later email from Jørgensen is especially specific.

Addressed to COO Esben Trier, with me copied, he wrote:

We have now finished writing the application.

He continued:

We have agreed that SJ reads the section 'InnoBooster-projektet' to check that it is completely correct.

The incorrect PhD designation is not located in the section called "InnoBooster-projektet."

It appears later in the separate section concerning the team.

The record also documents work by additional employees.

Trang Tran later wrote:

I didn't log the time I worked on Innobooster correctly

and referred to work by Kim and Malthe in the same context.

A separate management email from Jørgensen uses InnoBooster as an example of work performed by Tran that had required feedback and review.

I also introduced Jørgensen to another founder seeking help with an InnoBooster application by writing:

Kim, I've been bragging about how good you are at writing InnoBooster.

Earlier correspondence shows that while I was on holiday I expected to read an earlier version of the application after the drafting team completed it.

This record therefore does not claim that I never saw any version of the application.

It makes the narrower evidentiary point supported by the documents: the application was drafted and edited through a delegated multi-person process, and my specifically defined review at the final-draft stage concerned a different section from the one containing the incorrect PhD statement.

The incorrect PhD designation is real. The reviewed contemporaneous correspondence does not support treating it as a personal statement authored by Hjorth simply because she was CEO.

The record identifies other employees as the people researching, drafting, leading, editing and proofreading the application. At the final-draft stage, Jørgensen wrote that "we" had completed the application and identified Hjorth's review as the separate "InnoBooster-projektet" section.
